Thanks for a wonderful holiday (10 – 24 August). It was a pleasure to meet you and your family. The setting was beautifully tranquil with an abundance of kingfisher, deer and other wildlife. The property was fantastic, the swimming pool very welcome on the hot days and the lake stunning. The whole holiday worked perfectly for us. It was our family holiday (which just happened to be on the bank of a carp lake!) and we treated it as such. Whilst I did fish a few hours each day, we spent time off site at Lac St. Pardoux enjoying the water slides, lake beach and pedalos, we visited Oradour-Sur-Glane and took in the stark reality of the horrific events that took place there in June 1944, we explored the River Glane at Site Corot and ate out in Saint Junien. My daughters caught their first carp on the float from the stock pond, and the whole family enjoyed the very relaxing atmosphere; two weeks seemed like three! On the fishing front, the trip couldn’t have got off to a better start. Within 30 minutes of fishing on the first morning, I landed the lakes biggie at 73lb 4oz. After the elation of that capture, the lake paid me back as I had to wait 4 days for my next bite! Having said that, once I had worked out the carps habits the fishing really kicked off. I generally fished for 3 hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening. I ended up landing 19 hard fighting carp with most fights being 40 minutes plus. I landed the 73, and a further 8 carp over 50lb. All others were 40lb plus with the exception of two fish of 34 and 38lb. The fishing was beyond my wildest dreams and topped off what was an amazing holiday in its own right. My wife and teenage daughters can’t wait to return, testament to the quality of the whole holiday experience. Thanks Duncan
