Regular guest Shane Beckensall has just had his family summer trip to the lake, hiring the house & lodge to accommodate his extended family.

Fishing with his dad Phil whilst his wife Jo , daughter Phoebe and his in laws enjoyed the grounds, house, lodge and pool, Shane and dad bagged a fabulous tally of big fish in extremely hot conditions. And Phoebe also caught a fair few on the stock pond.

Shane reported that due to the weather the fish really weren’t interested in feeding at the beginning of the trip and even the usual spots were only giving up the odd fish.

On his previous visit in 2018 Shane took fifty Carp and so was looking to beat that total however with conditions more like the Sahara he had to adapt his approach.

These challenges aside though Shane landed 17 fish including;

13 over 50lb+ – 3 over 42lb+ and 1 x 37lb

With his dad who had less rod time taking a creditable tally of 2 x 50+, 3 x 41lb+ and

2 x 38lb +

And to top it off, Shane let his dad onto his rods as he was obviously in the hot seat. As often happens at times like this though he hooked into what was obviously one of the even bigger residents that turned out to be our second biggest Chanteboeuf carp at 75lb.

This fish is putting on positive weight gains and is of the same year group of the current lake record of 84.8lb

That’s 15 fish over 50lb, six over 40, three big 30’s topped with a 75 pounder. Great fishing the Beckensall’s and see you all next year
